Our philosophy in the "field"
The choice of Tenuta Villa Ornella has always been to develop the estate on land adjacent to the hills, in order to capture the best characteristics regarding soil composition, while at the same time constantly ensuring a supply of water even in the driest seasons, and not least, to work in the safest conditions. The surrounding slopes also offer natural shelter from the most adverse weather conditions and the existing microclimate protects the vineyards from frost in the winter season and from strong winds and storms in the summer season.
Finally, the attention paid to choosing the best sun exposure, as a fundamental factor for the development of the vineyard, makes it possible to obtain an excellent quality product for winemaking.
Tenuta Villa Ornella pays close attention to the sustainability of natural resources, as, thanks to specific timed drip irrigation systems installed on most of the vineyards, it provides the correct amount of water needed during the coolest hours of the night, thus minimizing evaporation, water consumption, and energy expenditure.
All this, as taught to us by our ancestors, translates into a relationship not of subordination, but rather of symbiosis with the plant, which, protected and placed in the condition to grow healthy and luxuriant, rewards us with its best fruit.
Passion, attention, and care day after day throughout the year has always been the secret of Tenuta Villa Ornella to produce its quality products.
